Diagnostic Lab Testing
Home »Personalized Lab Testing to Better Understand Your Health
At Bloom Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, diagnostic lab testing can be an important part of understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms and overall health concerns. Available exclusively at our Folsom location, lab testing may be incorporated into a personalized functional and integrative medicine plan when additional information is needed.
Rather than looking at symptoms in isolation, laboratory testing can provide valuable data that helps us better understand areas such as hormone balance, nutritional status, metabolic health, inflammation, thyroid function, and other important aspects of wellness.
Diagnostic lab testing is currently available at our Folsom office only.
Location Offered: Folsom Only
Why We Use Diagnostic Lab Testing
Many symptoms can have multiple contributing factors. Fatigue, digestive concerns, hormonal changes, sleep problems, difficulty managing weight, and other health issues may require a closer look at what is happening within the body.
When appropriate, diagnostic testing allows us to gather more objective information and use those results alongside your:
- Health history
- Current symptoms
- Medications and supplements
- Nutrition
- Lifestyle
- Sleep patterns
- Stress levels
- Previous laboratory results
- Personal health goals
This information helps us develop a more individualized and informed approach to your care.
Types of Lab Testing We May Consider
The specific testing recommended will depend on your symptoms, health history, and treatment goals.
Depending on your individual needs, laboratory testing may evaluate areas such as:
Hormone Health
Testing may help provide additional insight into hormone-related concerns involving menstrual cycles, fertility, perimenopause, menopause, energy, and other symptoms.
Thyroid Function
Thyroid testing may be considered when symptoms such as fatigue, temperature sensitivity, changes in weight, or other concerns suggest that thyroid function should be evaluated more closely.
Nutritional Status
Certain laboratory tests may help identify nutritional deficiencies or imbalances that could influence energy, immune function, metabolism, and overall wellness.
Metabolic Health
Testing may provide useful information about blood sugar regulation, cholesterol, and other markers associated with metabolic health.
Inflammation & General Wellness
Selected laboratory markers may be used to provide additional information about inflammation and other aspects of overall health.
Digestive & Functional Health
Depending on your symptoms and clinical needs, additional testing may sometimes be considered as part of a broader evaluation of digestive or functional health concerns.
Additional Tests
In addition to the lab work above we also offer the following tests:
- Mycotoxin testing – Mold Toxicity
- Digestive- Stool Testing, Parasitology, Microbiome testing
- Organic Acids Testing
- Vaginal Microbiome Testing
- Sperm Analysis
- Heavy Metal testing
Not every patient requires laboratory testing, and the type of testing recommended will vary from person to person.
A Functional & Integrative Approach
At Bloom, we use laboratory results as one part of a larger clinical picture.
Numbers on a lab report are important, but they do not always tell the complete story by themselves. We also consider how you feel, your medical history, lifestyle, nutrition, stress, sleep, and other factors that may influence your health.
This whole-person approach allows us to use laboratory information alongside acupuncture, Chinese medicine, functional medicine, nutritional recommendations, and other appropriate therapies to create a care plan based on your individual needs.
What to Expect
Your process begins with a detailed consultation at our Folsom office.
We will discuss your symptoms, health history, previous testing, medications, supplements, and wellness goals. If additional testing may be useful, we will discuss the recommended labs and explain why they are being considered.
Once results are available, they can be reviewed as part of your follow-up care. Your practitioner can discuss the findings with you and determine how they may influence your personalized treatment plan.
Depending on your needs, recommendations may include:
- Nutritional guidance
- Lifestyle changes
- Supplement recommendations when appropriate
- Acupuncture
- Chinese medicine
- Functional medicine
- Additional follow-up testing
- Referral to another healthcare provider when appropriate
Do I Need to Bring Previous Lab Results?
If you have recent laboratory results from another healthcare provider, bringing them to your appointment can be very helpful.
Previous testing may provide useful information about trends over time and may help determine whether additional testing is necessary.
We recommend bringing any relevant:
- Blood work
- Hormone testing
- Thyroid testing
- Nutritional testing
- Imaging reports
- Medical records related to your current concerns
Insurance & Lab Testing
Insurance coverage for diagnostic laboratory testing varies significantly between plans.
Some laboratory testing may be covered by your insurance, while other tests may be considered out-of-network or may not be included in your benefits package.
We strongly recommend contacting your insurance company before completing laboratory testing to verify:
- Whether the specific lab is covered
- Whether the testing requires authorization
- Whether you have a deductible
- Whether an out-of-network laboratory is involved
- What your estimated out-of-pocket cost may be
Bloom cannot guarantee insurance coverage or reimbursement for laboratory services.
Lab Testing Available at Our Folsom Office Only

What Our Patients Say About Us
After giving birth to my daughter, I developed severe postpartum back pain and returned to see both Dr. Reagan and Dr. Tognetti. Within three sessions, my back was feeling so much better!
I am beyond grateful to have found Dr. Reagan and Dr. Tognetti. Bloom is hands down the best place to go for acupuncture in Northern California. They have made such a huge impact on my life, and I will forever be thankful for their care!
With each visit, I’ve continued to feel better, and my pain has been steadily decreasing—something I hadn’t experienced with physical therapy or other treatments. I truly can’t say enough good things about her care and expertise.
